last updated | The Wick Theatre Company, based at the Barn Theatre, Southwick, Sussex, England has been in existence since 1948, when a group of theatre-mad youngsters got together to start making their dreams come true. More .... Years have passed, members have come and gone, but high-quality performances have been consistent, and never more so than today. Wick is an award-winning company - we recently scooped no less than five awards at the Brighton and Hove Arts Council Drama Festival 2001.'The Madness of George III' won the Arthur Churchill Award for runner-up for the Best Overall Production. Director Bob Ryder won the Gabbus Denney Director's award for his production. The Wick also gained awards for Best Stage Setting, Best Lighting and Best Publicity and Design. In the Merit Section we also received a nomination for Best Actor. [ The Festival was not conducted in 2002 and Wick did not enter in 2003. ] There are four major productions a year, varying from Shakespearean drama to musicals - something to suit every taste, as well as two smaller, more challenging studio productions. But it's not only the productions down through the years there has been more! Wick is always seeking new members, for both
acting and back-stage work. But it's not all staged drama there are
play-readings, workshops and regular social events. We are a registered
charity with all proceeds ploughed straight back into future productions.
